Material basics, combining brick and mortar, differential movement, expansion joints, banding materials, the flexibility of brick

Description:
Participants will learn how material properties influence the performance of the materials when combined with brick masonry. Recommended details and design considerations are included.

Seminar B: (1 AIA Learning Unit)

Title:
Brick Revisited: Just How Green Is It?

Learning Objectives:
The attendee will learn how to incorporate brick into LEED rating system by hearing about what points are applicable to brick masonry.

Description:
Brick is a material that has been used for thousands of years, but is this time honored material included in today's sustainable designs? Attendees will learn what features of brick fit with sustainable design practices.
